When the player looks at a mineable rock, a small prompt appears: a key badge, the rock’s name and what it offers. On pale granite in afternoon sun the first version was hard to read, and a playtest showed a square outline around the key badge.
Outlined letters fixed legibility but looked cheap. A soft dark backing came next and was too heavy. What stuck was a real, feathered blur of the scene behind the text, which keeps the rock visible while separating the words from its surface. The same treatment later went behind all five groups of on-screen information, with a brighter subtitle for pale stone.
The last pass pinned the prompt to the rock itself and hid it during a swing, so it stops competing with the action. Eight revisions for a few words is a lot, but the prompt appears every time a player looks at something they can use.
